On this solo episode with Caro, she dives into the topic of motivation. She stresses the importance of understanding that our life ebbs and flows, which means that we will experience phases of motivation. The biggest myth she wants to break with this episode and to resonate with the listeners is that you don’t’ need to be motivated 100% of the time, and once we finally release that idea, then the happier you will feel in life.
How do you stay so motivated?
How to be motivated is one of the topic questions Carolina always gets from her community and it’s a huge theme in today’s society as well. We tend to have an idea in our head about what our levels of production should be, what we should be accomplishing and when we do that and don’t match that version of ourselves then it causes us distress.
BUT sometimes we don’t want to show up that day, we don’t want to exercise or go to work. And its valid to feel that way, you don’t have to feel motivated 100% of the time. Honestly, that’s exhausting and will eventually cause burnout. The more that we let go of this idea than the better we will feel and the less pressure we will put on ourselves.
phases of motivation
Different life changes will result in different realities of ourselves. There will be times that we have more down time and can do our 5-step skin care routine and meal plan all our meals. But life changes fast, you can get a new job and your entire schedule can change, which means the things that we had time for before, might need to take the back burner. This doesn’t mean that you lost your motivation, it just means that you need to adapt to your new reality. You shouldn’t compare yourself to an older version of yourself. Life evolves and you have to learn how to work with it.
You can receive callings of more motivation at different times. You might once again want to recreate habits and get back into fitness and wellness. The point here is to approach it with intention. Create habits that are sustainable. This is the key to maintain motivation. If you over do certain things, it’s not sustainable. When you approach habits in a sustainable way, and show up more regularly, that is when you see the results. You should focus on the habits that you want to build and make them fun in your life, so you look forward to doing them. Consistency trumps motivation.
the art of consistency
The thing about consistency is, there may be days that you don’t feel motivated but since you have stayed consistent for the long term, you will continue to show up even on those days you don’t feel as motivated. Carolina talks about her 1 mile a day challenge and what she has learned through it. She has learned self-trust. She made herself a promise, and when she shows up for that mile, she shows up for herself. She finds that it’s most empowering on the days that she doesn’t feel as motivated. When there is a part of her that wants to push the run off, she knows that she will probably end up pushing it off for the day. In that moment when she disagreed with her brain, she realized that the consistency is what makes the challenge amazing and worth it. You will be rewarded when you show up for yourself.
sustainable habits
When you focus on sustainability and tell yourself that you want to build a life of balance and self-care, then that’s when your relationship with yourself will improve. When you figure out what you enjoy then do that, focus on what you will stay consistent with! The best habit, the best form of exercise, the best meal, will be whatever you are able to stay most consistent with!
We hope you took something away from this episode and will be kinder to yourself when it comes to motivation. Stay consistent with what brings you joy and makes you feel like your highest self <3
